Naval Medical Center HVAC Upgrade Phase I

Davenergy provided healthcare construction management services at the 1.0 million square foot main hospital at the Naval Medical Center San Diego (NMCSD). The existing hospital HVAC system, originally constructed in 1987, had deteriorated and was not meeting current requirements. Services included design consulting, constructability reviews and construction management for infection control, temporary air, construction phasing, sequencing and commissioning oversight, for the alteration of HVAC and associated control systems. Davenergy developed a Phasing Plan Method of Procedures which included a detailed assessment of the facility for work flow and infection/dust control boundaries, as well as interviews with occupants to determine best dates and times to perform work for each affected area, significantly reducing impact to operations. Davenergy also provided the construction contractor HVAC commissioning, temporary air design and construction management support for the first three years of the project to meet facility requirements, Unified Facilities Criteria (UFC) and America Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) standards.
